The Peak of the snow, rising 1959 meters above sea level, is the highest point of the island of Gran Canaria.
It is located over three municipalities, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Vega de San Mateo and the village of Tejeda. In the area there are several protected areas such as the "Protected Landscape of Las Cumbres", the "Parque Rural Nublo" and "Natural Monument Tirajana Crags. "
The temperature in this central area is lower than in other parts of the island, due to the mist and fog in the higher mountain areas in the days of rain. Beautiful views of the neighbouring island of Tenerife are exposed from the mountains of Gran Canaria in the sunny days and clear.
